Surat’s Dream City project gets revised master plan; to be developed on lines of GIFT City

Surat: The Dream City project in Khajod is emerging as a major, ambitious development for Surat city and its administrative authorities. Despite facing several challenges, efforts are underway to ensure planned and structured development.

A revised master plan has now been prepared to develop Dream City on the lines of Gandhinagar’s GIFT City, and it has been approved by the Dream City Board. Additionally, a separate Development Control Regulations (DCR) framework is being drafted to implement global-standard projects within Dream City.

Even after the Diamond Bourse became operational, the initial phases of Dream City faced multiple hurdles. Taking cues from successful projects like GIFT City, the new master plan focuses on green spaces, open areas, and vertical, world-class facilities.

Shalini Agarwal, Municipal Commissioner and member of the Dream City Board, said, “The revised master plan for Dream City emphasizes vertical development and the theme of a ‘Green Surat.’ A separate DCR will be prepared to ensure world-class infrastructure.”

A high-level committee has been formed to finalize the DCR norms, including senior officials from the Urban Development Department, Industries Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, and District Collector. DeshGujarat
