AMC to Install Special Illumination Across City Bridges and Heritage Spots

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation has announced a special citywide illumination plan ahead of the upcoming Vikas Saptah celebrations, the Mayor’s Conference, and the Diwali festival. Acting on the verbal directions of senior office bearers, the Streetlight Department of the civic body will extend its temporary lighting operations from October 12 to October 26, 2025.

Under this initiative, decorative and festive lighting will be installed across major public spaces and infrastructure in the city. The plan includes all bridges over the Sabarmati River—seven in total—as well as 45 other bridges located in different zones of Ahmedabad. In addition, 46 traffic circles, seven underpasses, eleven heritage gates, and two city sculptures will be illuminated to enhance the festive atmosphere and beautify the cityscape.

The temporary lighting work will be carried out through approved contractors following a tendering process. Among the bidders, three agencies—May Vardayni Power Pvt. Ltd., SP Electric, and Karnavati Light and Sound—were selected as technically qualified and lowest bidders. The total cost of the work has been finalized at Rs. 89.36 lakh, under the sanctioned limit of Rs. 3 crore for three tenders. The contract was awarded at a rate 66.90 percent lower than the original estimate, as per Standing Committee Resolution No. 86 dated June 20, 2024. DeshGujarat
