Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) estate department was left stunned after receiving bids worth ₹5,318.9 crore for two Sola plots, which had a combined base price of just ₹136 crore, during an online auction held on Thursday and Friday.
The base price for both plots was ₹1.75 lakh per sq m, but two firms placed extraordinary bids of ₹69.6 lakh and ₹66.8 lakh per sq m, respectively, bringing the total for the two plots to ₹5,318.9 crore.
For Final Plot No. 171 in Sola Hebatpur (3,974 sq m), Suvimal Infraspace LLP bid ₹69.6 lakh per sq m, valuing the plot at ₹2,766.5 crore. For the adjacent Plot No. 172 (3,819 sq m), Akshayraj Developers LLP bid ₹66.8 lakh per sq m, valuing it at ₹2,552.4 crore.
Officials said that if the bids were submitted by mistake, the companies’ deposits, at around ₹60–70 lakh per plot, would be forfeited.
AMC had floated 14 residential and commercial plots with a total base price of ₹1,254.9 crore. However, only four plots, two each in Sola and Ambli, received bids. In Ambli, a 2,480 sq m plot fetched ₹1.65 lakh per sq m (₹40.9 crore), while a 4,911 sq m plot drew the highest bid of ₹1.9 lakh per sq m (₹93.8 crore).
Overall, bids totaling ₹5,453.6 crore were received. AMC officials said no company has yet approached them to correct or withdraw the unusually high Sola bids, and further action will be taken as per auction rules. DeshGujarat
