AMC to roll out smart parking system on five major roads

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced plans to introduce a smart parking system in the city, scheduled to launch after Diwali. The initiative aims to ease parking challenges and reduce traffic congestion, beginning with five major roads.

This initiative builds on a successful pilot project on Sindhu Bhavan Road, where smart parking locks were tested. The system will now be enhanced with sensors and IoT technology to provide live updates on parking availability. Sensors will detect when a space becomes vacant and instantly update the mobile app.

To encourage citizens, AMC plans to introduce five more smart parking zones free of charge at CG Road, SoBo Circle, Zydus to Hebatpur Road, University Road, and Mithakhali to Law Garden. These facilities will become operational after Diwali, said the Chairman of the Standing Committee, Devang Dani.

Commuters on these routes will be able to check available parking spaces in real time through a mobile app, allowing them to park efficiently without the hassle of searching for vacant spots. DeshGujarat
