ECI Revises Schedule for Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls in Gujarat and other States

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India today announced a revised Schedule, extending the relevant dates by one week for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in 12 States/UTs, with 01.01.2026 as the qualifying date.
The updated timeline applies to 12 States and Union Territories, including Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
According to the order (No. 23/2025-ERS Vol. II) issued to Chief Electoral Officers, the Commission has modified the earlier schedule dated October 27, 2025. The updated calendar outlines key activities such as enumeration, polling station rationalization, draft roll publication, claims and objections, and final publication.
Revised Schedule Highlights
-Enumeration Period:
To be completed by December 11, 2025 (Thursday).
-Rationalization/Re-arrangement of Polling Stations:
Also to be completed by December 11, 2025 (Thursday).
-Updation of Control Table and Draft Roll Preparation:
Scheduled from December 12 to December 15, 2025.
-Publication of Draft Electoral Roll:
December 16, 2025 (Tuesday).
-Period for Filing Claims and Objections:
December 16, 2025 to January 15, 2026.
-Notice Phase, Hearings & Disposal of Claims/Objections:
To run concurrently from December 16, 2025 to February 7, 2026.
-Checking Health Parameters & Seeking Approval for Final Roll:
To be completed by February 10, 2026 (Tuesday).
-Final Publication of Electoral Roll:
February 14, 2026 (Saturday).
The Commission has directed all concerned officials to ensure timely completion of each stage and to bring the revised schedule to the notice of all stakeholders.
