Surat: The local police have arrested a 22-year-old man for uploading AI-generated and edited photos of a married female teacher from the Dindoli area of Surat on social media.

The teacher, originally from Ganjam district of Odisha, is 29 years old and works at a school under the Nagar Prathmik Shikshan Samiti. Her husband is employed in a private company on Bamroli Road.

On December 8, the teacher’s husband received a call from her brother, informing him that offensive edited photos, reels, and stories of his wife had been posted on the Instagram account “lieevi916.” Acting promptly, he contacted the cyber crime helpline number 1930 and filed a complaint.

During the investigation, police found that the teacher’s photos had been AI-edited and morphed before being shared on social media platforms. Reels were also created from the manipulated images and circulated online.

The accused, identified as Deepak Udaynath Swai, 22, resident of Shaktinagar Society near Harinagar-2, BRC Udhna, Surat, has been taken into custody. Police confirmed that his original birthplace is Kaithpalli village, Belgutta taluka, Ganjam district, Odisha.

Authorities have seized the accused’s mobile phone and other digital devices, and the investigation is ongoing. DeshGujarat
