Ahmedabad’s First N-GEN Themed Post Office Opens at IIMA

Ahmedabad: In a significant step towards modernising postal services, the first N-GEN (Next Generation) theme-based post office at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad was inaugurated recently. The revamped IIM Post Office was formally opened by Chief Postmaster General, Gujarat Circle, Ganesh V. Sawaleshwarkar; Director, IIM Ahmedabad, Prof. Bharat Bhasker; and Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad, Krishna Kumar Yadav.
The initiative is part of India Post’s broader transformation drive to reimagine post offices as technology-enabled, youth-centric and community-friendly spaces.

Designed to cater primarily to students and young users, the N-GEN IIM Post Office offers a blend of traditional postal services and modern amenities.

A unique highlight of the project is that the design and conceptualisation of the N-GEN post office were undertaken by IIM Ahmedabad students themselves. The contributing students were felicitated during the inauguration ceremony for their role in shaping the space, which reflects the philosophy of “of the students, by the students, for the students,” blending local culture, youthful creativity and modern digital infrastructure.
