Japan K. Nearly 125 hectares of land is involved in this proposed mega sports infrastructure project. The total built-up construction area is expected to exceed 150,000 square metres, it is learnt.
The land identified for the project belongs to Acher, Bhat, Hansol, Koteshwar and Motera villages of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts. The project involves the displacement of 814 recorded families. In this connection, three petitions have been filed in the Gujarat High Court.
The city is set to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and is also aspiring to host the Olympic Games in 2036. The SVP Sports Enclave is envisaged to emerge as the main and core sports infrastructure for these games, in addition to another sports complex that has already been completed in the Naranpura area of the city and is named the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.
