Ahmedabad: C.H. Nagri Municipal Eye Hospital in the city has emerged as a major centre of healthcare, bringing vision and hope to more than five lakh patients over the past three years. Strengthening its commitment to advanced treatment, the hospital is set to take another step towards modern eye care with the launch of a Vision Therapy Centre in the near future, an official statement said.
Hospital data shows a steady rise in the number of patients availing treatment. From January to December 2023, a total of 1,59,857 patients received eye treatment at the hospital’s OPD. In 2024, this number increased to 1,61,538, while in 2025, the hospital recorded a significant jump with 1,76,699 patients treated. The consistent rise highlights the hospital’s growing importance as a major eye-care centre for Ahmedabad and neighbouring regions.
The hospital’s contribution to eye donation has also been significant. In 2023, a total of 332 eye donations were recorded, which rose sharply to 563 donations in 2024. In 2025, 505 eye donations were carried out, enabling many visually impaired patients to regain sight.
C.H. Nagri Municipal Eye Hospital has also achieved notable success in cataract surgeries. In 2023, 3,529 cataract operations were performed, followed by 3,693 surgeries in 2024 and 3,918 surgeries in 2025. All procedures were conducted free of cost with a high success rate, offering renewed vision particularly to the economically weaker and underprivileged sections.
Looking ahead, the hospital is preparing to further expand its services. The upcoming Vision Therapy Centre will provide more advanced and specialised eye-care treatment, reinforcing the hospital’s role as a leading public healthcare institution in the region. DeshGujarat
