Ahmedabad: A 32-year-old man who died during treatment after a motorcycle accident caused by a stray dog has been booked for his own death, sparking allegations of medical lapses and systemic apathy.
Hitesh Mistri, a resident of Pij village in Vaso taluka, met with an accident on January 26 near Tundel village when a dog crossed the road, causing his bike to skid. He suffered serious injuries, including to his left leg.
He was treated at a private hospital in Nadiad and underwent surgery on January 29. His family alleged his condition worsened due to delayed ventilator support, following which he was referred to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Mistri died on January 30.
Since no other vehicle was involved, police have registered a case naming Mistri as the accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. Vaso police said an inquiry is underway, including a review of hospital treatment records. DeshGujarat
