DPR underway to upgrade NH-56 stretches linking interior Dahod with national highway network

New Delhi: The Government of India has initiated steps to strengthen road connectivity between the interior regions of the Dahod Lok Sabha constituency and the national highway network under the PM GatiShakti framework, the Lok Sabha was informed on February 5, 2026.

Responding to a question, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari stated that while stretches of NH-56 and NH-47 passing through Dahod district are currently in the operation and maintenance stage, the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been taken up for the upgradation of the Dahod–Alirajpur and Ferkuva sections of NH-56.

“The work of preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the upgradation of the Dahod–Alirajpur and Ferkuva sections of NH-56 has been taken up. Decisions on implementation and investment are taken based on the outcome of the DPR, fulfilment of criteria, connectivity requirements, traffic density, and synergy with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan,” he said.

In reply to another question, Gadkari reiterated that the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway section between Dahod and Vadodara is nearing completion and is expected to enhance economic growth, logistics efficiency, interstate trade, and tourism potential in the region.

Additionally, two wayside amenities are being developed in Dahod on a public-private partnership basis to support employment generation and highway services. DeshGujarat
