Palanpur: A 40-year-old woman from Kundel village in Danta taluka succumbed to rabies months after being bitten by a stray dog.
According to hospital authorities, the woman was bitten by a dog in her village around six months ago but did not receive anti-rabies vaccination or medical treatment at the time. Recently, she developed symptoms of rabies, following which her family admitted her to Palanpur Civil Hospital four days ago.
Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr. Sunil Joshi said doctors provided primary treatment after her admission. However, as rabies has no definitive cure once symptoms appear, her condition remained critical.
Later, family members took her home on the pretext of shifting her to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where she subsequently died last evening. DeshGujarat
