Shreyas Railway Over Bridge connecting east–west Nadiad gets in-principle approval

Nadiad: In a major relief for residents of Nadiad, the proposed Railway Over Bridge (ROB) connecting the eastern and western parts of the city has received in-principle approval from the Railways.

According to an official communication dated February 10, 2026, issued by the Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination), Western Railway, Vadodara, in-principle approval for construction of the ROB at the Shreyas Railway Underpass location has been conveyed by the Railways. The letter, addressed to the Municipal Commissioner of the Nadiad Municipal Corporation, also seeks expeditious approval of the General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) after conducting a joint site survey with Railway officials.

The communication further states that the project will be executed at 100 per cent State cost. The tentative cost estimate for the Railway portion has been indicated, while detailed plan estimates and supervision charges will be conveyed separately.

The Shreyas ROB is considered a crucial infrastructure project for Nadiad, as it will ease traffic congestion and end long-standing difficulties faced by commuters travelling between the western and eastern parts of the city. With the in-principle approval now in place, further procedural steps are expected to be taken to expedite execution of the project. DeshGujarat
