Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued notices to 940 commercial vehicle owners over the past two years for non-payment of pending taxes. The department has initiated action to recover penalties amounting to ₹10.25 crore.
With the financial year nearing its end, the RTO has intensified its drive to collect outstanding vehicle taxes and has begun serving notices as part of the recovery campaign. The Ahmedabad RTO conducts such enforcement drives annually to ensure clearance of long-pending dues.
According to rules of the Vehicle Transactions Department, if tax on commercial vehicles remains unpaid for an extended period, authorities are empowered to initiate recovery proceedings, including placing a lien on the defaulter’s property. DeshGujarat
