AMC to Collect Construction Debris; 25 Sites Designated, 7 Helpline Numbers Announced
February 17, 2026
Ahmedabad: With the objective of providing a cleaner and safer environment, the Solid Waste Management Department of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has implemented a mechanism for the scientific management of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste. Soil, rubble, and building debris generated during repair, renovation, maintenance, or new construction activities in residential and commercial units will now be disposed of in a regulated manner. Citizens can avail waste collection services by making a single phone call to the zonal control room of their respective area.
Residents undertaking repair, renovation, maintenance, or new construction work have been instructed not to dispose of soil, rubble, or building debris on public roads, public places, or any unauthorized locations. Instead, such waste can be disposed of at any of the 25 designated plots identified across the city’s seven zones—East, West, North, South, Central, North-West, and South-West—at their own transportation cost. The Municipal Corporation will not levy any disposal charges at these designated sites.
Additionally, AMC’s Solid Waste team has arranged doorstep collection of building material and construction waste from citizens’ premises at nominal charges, with transportation to authorized disposal locations. To avail of this service, citizens may contact the following zonal numbers between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm:
-
Central Zone – 6357516301
-
North Zone – 6357516302
-
South Zone – 6357516303
-
East Zone – 6357516304
-
West Zone – 6357516305
-
North-West Zone – 6357516306
-
South-West Zone – 6357516307
Authorities have warned that if debris is not cleared from residential or complaint locations within the stipulated time frame, prescribed charges and penalties will be recovered from the responsible individual. Dumping C&D waste on public roads, open plots, or at non-designated locations will invite strict action, including seizure of vehicles. For effective enforcement, AMC has constituted a dedicated cleanliness squad to conduct continuous inspections across all seven zones, and strict penalties will be imposed on violators.
To ensure scientific and safe handling of C&D waste, modern collection centres equipped with mist systems have also been established. These systems spray fine water droplets to prevent dust particles from dispersing into the atmosphere, thereby helping reduce air pollution and improving overall air quality in the city.
The Municipal Corporation has appealed to citizens to refrain from dumping construction debris on roads and to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness. Public cooperation will be crucial in achieving the vision of a C&D-waste-free Ahmedabad and ensuring a cleaner urban environment. DeshGujarat
