ECI appoints Sandip Sagale as Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed IAS officer Sandip Janardanpant Sagale (Gujarat cadre, 2007 batch) as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Gujarat.
According to a notification issued by the Secretariat of the Election Commission of India today, Sagale has been appointed under Section 13A of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, in consultation with the Government of Gujarat. He will assume charge from the date he takes over and will continue in the role until further orders, replacing 1999-batch IAS officer Hareet Shukla.
The notification further states that Sagale shall immediately relinquish any additional charges or responsibilities he currently holds under the Government of Gujarat before assuming office as CEO.
Sagale is presently serving as Director General of the Sports Authority of Gujarat (SAG). Shukla, who was appointed CEO in July 2024, also holds the position of ex-officio Principal Secretary in the General Administration Department (GAD). DeshGujarat
