Dumas Sea-Face Project Phase 1 Likely to Open on March 8

Surat: The much-awaited Package 1 of Zone 1 under the Dumas Sea-Face Development Project is expected to be inaugurated on March 8. The project, considered a major boost to the city’s tourism infrastructure, will be formally opened by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The inauguration was initially scheduled for December 2025 but was postponed due to delays in execution. At the time, then Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal had conducted multiple site visits and expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work. The civic body also issued notices to the executing agency, directing it to complete the project within the stipulated timeline.
Following sustained administrative monitoring and pressure, the project has now been completed and is ready for public use.
Developed to provide modern amenities at Dumas beach, the project features landscaped areas, pedestrian-friendly walkways, seating arrangements, and several recreational facilities. Although the delay had drawn criticism from opposition members and citizens, the civic body has given the project its final touches ahead of the launch.
