Illegal Cut near Segwa on Surat – Bharuch Section of Delhi – Mumbai Expressway Closed

Surat: Authorities have sealed an illegal entry and exit point near Segwa village in Kamrej on the Surat–Bharuch stretch of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway after media reports flagged it as a major safety hazard.

The unauthorised opening, reportedly created by breaking barricades, had become a potential death trap for commuters. After the issue was highlighted in the media, officials under the jurisdiction of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) acted swiftly and closed the access point with immediate effect. However, action is still awaited against those responsible for damaging the barricades and creating the illegal entry.

The 1,386-km-long, eight-lane Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is divided into two major sections — Delhi–Vadodara and Vadodara–Mumbai.

In the Vadodara–Mumbai section, Packages 1 to 3, connecting Vadodara to Bharuch, were opened to traffic in February 2024. Subsequently, Package 4 (Manubar to Ankleshwar) was inaugurated. Later, Package 6 (Kim Interchange to Ena Interchange) was made operational, followed by the opening of Package 5 (Ankleshwar to Kim Interchange).

Together, these six packages provide direct expressway connectivity between Vadodara and Surat. Thereafter, Package 7 was also opened, extending the expressway’s reach further towards Navsari. DeshGujarat
