Rajkot: Ahead of the upcoming elections of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, the city unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a new organisational structure, appointing ward in-charges and executive committee members to strengthen the party. Notably, Anjali Rupani, wife of late former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, has been included in the city BJP executive committee.
According to the party, Rajkot city BJP president Dr. Madhav Dave finalised the names after holding discussions with city in-charge Aniruddh Dave and other office-bearers of the city unit. In the new structure, in-charges have been appointed for all 18 wards, while around 70 members have been included in the executive committee.
Political circles say the new appointments have been made keeping the upcoming municipal elections in mind, with the party leadership attempting to address internal differences and accommodate leaders from various groups.
Along with Anjali Rupani, several senior leaders have been included in the executive committee, including former city president Kashyap Shukla, former mayor Rakshaben Boliya, former women’s wing president Kiranben Mankadiya, former vice-president Poojaben Patel, former general secretary Ashwin Moliya, Virendrasinh Zala, Kishor Rathod, and others.
Furthermore, Nitin Bharadwaj and Dr. Bharatbhai Bogra, who are considered close associates of late Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, have also been appointed as special invitee members of the Rajkot City BJP.
The reorganisation has been carried out with the aim of strengthening coordination and ensuring unity ahead of the Rajkot civic polls. DeshGujarat
