March 09, 2026
Surat: The 270th board meeting of the Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) was held on Saturday, during which a budget of ₹1,149.78 crore for the financial year 2026–27 was approved. The budget includes an estimated income of ₹558.60 crore and an expenditure of ₹591.18 crore. The projected income comprises ₹189.02 crore from self-funding and ₹369.58 crore as government grants.
During the meeting, the board also approved a provision to pay ₹25 crore to the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) in the current year for the purification of the Tapi River. SUDA has also decided to construct 972 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 in FP-227 of TP-48 near JB Diamond School at Kholvad in Kamrej taluka.
Several important decisions were taken to strengthen road infrastructure in the city and surrounding areas. A 45-metre-wide TP road in Draft TP-102 near Swaminarayan Mandir at Kanad in Olpad will be developed into a four-lane road at a cost of ₹17.23 crore. Similarly, the 36-metre TP road from Karadva village to TP-54 (Bhestan) will be widened to four lanes up to the SMC limit at an estimated cost of ₹82 lakh.
In the meeting, it was also decided to send three new draft town planning schemes covering around 460 hectares in the H-Node area near the NHSRCL bullet train station to the state government for approval. These include TP-62/A (Chedchha–Oviyan–Sabargam–Antroli), TP-62/B (Sabargam–Niyol), and TP-62/C (Antroli).
The plans have been prepared under the guidance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The schemes prioritise FSI 5.4, green corridors, blue-green infrastructure, and facilities for walking and cycling to ensure eco-friendly and well-planned development of the area.
The proposal also includes the development of four special nodes near the bullet train station for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), hospitality, and economic activities, which is expected to make the area a major hub for trade and employment in the future.
Apart from this, Draft TP Scheme No. 102 covering 298 hectares in Kanad village will also be sent to the government for approval. With this, SUDA has resolved to forward a total of four draft town planning schemes to the state government. DeshGujarat
