Man from Rajkot who Abused Police in Social Media Video on Iran arrested from Hyderabad

Rajkot: A man who posted a controversial video on social media allegedly supporting Iran’s leader and abusing the police has been arrested from Hyderabad by the Cyber Crime Police. During investigation, it also emerged that the accused had earlier stolen cash from a friend’s house in Rajkot.

According to police, the accused Ashif alias Budho Hanifbhai Kundha, a resident of Rasulpara near Kotharia Solvent in Rajkot, had uploaded a video on social media in which he used abusive language and openly challenged the police.

In the video, he allegedly made objectionable remarks while expressing support for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and also insulted the police using vulgar language. The video quickly circulated online, drawing the attention of law enforcement agencies.

Based on technical surveillance and investigation, a team of the Cyber Crime Police Station led by PI Kaila tracked the accused and arrested him from Hyderabad. He was later brought to Rajkot for further questioning.

During the investigation, another offence came to light. Police found that the accused had allegedly stolen Rs 1.50 lakh in cash from a friend’s house in Rasulpara.

According to the complaint, Salmanbhai Karimbhai Nakum, a resident near Hussaini Chowk in the Solvent area, had gone with his family to attend his elder son’s wedding on May 19, 2025. Before leaving, he had entrusted the house key to his friend Ashif.

Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly opened the locked house and stole Rs 1.50 lakh from a cupboard. Later, he reportedly called the complainant and admitted that he had taken the money, claiming he needed it and promising to return it.

However, he later switched off his phone and went absconding. Following the complaint, the Rajkot Taluka Police registered a case and initiated action.

Police have now taken the accused into custody and further investigation is underway.
