Slight Relief from Heat in Gujarat; Temperatures Below 40°C in All Cities Except Rajkot
March 13, 2026
Ahmedabad: A slight drop in maximum temperatures across Gujarat brought relief from the early summer heat, with the mercury staying below 40°C in almost all weather stations except Rajkot on Thursday, according to the weather report issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.
As per the latest data, Rajkot remained the only city to record a maximum temperature above 40°C at 40.6°C, which was 5.2 degrees above normal. In contrast, most other cities reported temperatures in the range of 34°C to 39.6°C, indicating a marginal easing of heat conditions compared to the previous trend.
Among key weather stations, Bhuj recorded 39.6°C, Amreli 39.5°C, Surat 39.2°C, Vadodara 39.0°C, and Ahmedabad 38.9°C, all above normal but still below the 40°C mark. Coastal locations remained relatively cooler, with Dwarka at 29.0°C, Okha 30.4°C, and Diu at 33.0°C, due to the moderating effect of the sea breeze.
Minimum temperatures also stayed above normal at most places. Ahmedabad recorded 21.7°C, Gandhinagar 21.0°C, Rajkot 21.2°C, and Bhavnagar 23.0°C, indicating warm nights across the state.
Humidity levels were higher in coastal districts such as Dwarka, Porbandar, Veraval, and Kandla.
Weather experts believe that although temperatures continue to remain above normal in many parts of Gujarat, the absence of widespread 40°C readings has provided temporary relief from intense heat. Further changes in temperature will depend on wind patterns over the region in the coming days. DeshGujarat
