Which Aadhaar Card Types Are Valid for Passport Address Proof? RPO Ahmedabad Issues Advisory

Ahmedabad: The Regional Passport Office (RPO) of Ahmedabad has issued an advisory regarding the acceptance of Aadhaar card as address proof for passport applications, specifying which formats of Aadhaar will be considered valid and which will not be accepted during the application process.

According to the Passport Seva office, the following types of Aadhaar will be accepted as valid address proof:

• Original Aadhaar letter issued by UIDAI containing a QR code

• Original PVC Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI with QR code and hologram

• Aadhaar uploaded through DigiLocker

• e-Aadhaar downloaded from the UIDAI website with “Signature Valid” remark

• e-Aadhaar downloaded from the UIDAI website even if it shows “Signature Not Verified”

However, the office has clarified that the following will not be accepted as address proof:

• PVC Aadhaar cards printed by private vendors

• Half or damaged portion of the Aadhaar letter issued by UIDAI

• Photocopy (colour or black & white) of Aadhaar letter or PVC card

The passport office has advised applicants to upload Aadhaar through DigiLocker for hassle-free processing of passport applications. Applicants have also been advised to carry additional address proof, if available, while visiting the Passport Seva Kendra for document verification. DeshGujarat
