ECI Announces By-Election Schedule for Umreth Assembly Seat in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the by-election to the 111-Umreth Assembly constituency in Gujarat.
According to the schedule, the official notification for the by-poll will be issued on March 30, 2026. Filing of nomination papers will be allowed from March 30 to April 6, 2026, except on public holidays. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 7, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be April 9, 2026.
The voting for the seat will be held on April 23, 2026, and the counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on May 4, 2026.
The Election Commission has also announced by-elections for assembly seats in several other states, including Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, and Tripura.
The Model Code of Conduct for the Umreth by-poll came into effect from March 15, 2026.
The by-election has been necessitated following the recent demise of then BJP MLA Govindbhai Parmar, due to which the Umreth Assembly seat became vacant. DeshGujarat
