LPG Users in Gujarat with PNG Connection Asked to Surrender LPG by Wednesday

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has asked consumers who have both LPG and PNG connections to surrender their LPG connection by Wednesday, as the state is giving priority to shifting domestic and commercial users from LPG to piped natural gas (PNG).

The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Gujarat Assembly Complex on Monday by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department regarding provisions in the State Budget 2026-27. Cabinet Minister Ramanbhai Solanki and Minister of State P.C. Baranda were present on the occasion.

Additional Chief Secretary of the department, Mona Khandhar, said the government is prioritising the conversion of LPG consumers to PNG wherever the facility is available. She stated that users who have already obtained PNG connections along with LPG must surrender their LPG connection by Wednesday as part of the ongoing rationalisation of supply.

Khandhar clarified that there is sufficient stock of domestic LPG cylinders in the state and the buffer stock is continuously increasing. She said the state government is coordinating with the Central Government to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG as well as PNG for both domestic and commercial use.

Kerosene allocation for rural areas

The government has also started arrangements to supply kerosene as an additional option in rural areas where LPG supply may be limited. According to officials, the Central Government has allocated 1,452 KL (14.52 lakh litres) of kerosene to the state, of which 36,000 litres will be distributed in each district.

Under the plan, five litres of kerosene will be provided per family and 25 litres per institution, officials said, adding that necessary arrangements are being made for distribution.

LPG supply to essential services prioritised

Officials said commercial LPG supply is being fully ensured for hospitals and educational institutions, while about 70 percent supply is being provided to the pharma sector, dairy industry, seed processing units, and airline and railway canteens. Essential services such as fisheries have been given limited allocation, while semi-essential services, including restaurants, hotels, corporate canteens, and food processing units, are receiving supply with restrictions to ensure availability for priority sectors.
