Ahmedabad: Former IPS officer Manoj Ninama joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, formally entering politics within 48 hours of resigning from his post as Inspector General (IG) of Police.
Ninama, a 2006-batch IPS officer, took BJP membership at a programme held in Shamlaji in the presence of senior BJP leader and State Minister P. C. Baranda. Baranda is Ninama’s batchmate and close associate, who had earlier resigned from the IPS and later joined the BJP.
Ninama, who started his career as a clerk with the Gujarat government, later went on to become an IPS officer after clearing the police service examination in 2006. A native of Aravalli district in North Gujarat, he has been in service for over 42 years and was set to retire on May 31. He had stated that his decision to step down was primarily driven by family responsibilities. DeshGujarat
