Vapi to Get New 46 MLD Filtration plant; Project Aimed at 30-Year Water Supply

Vapi: As part of a long-term water supply plan in the Vapi Municipal Corporation area to meet drinking water demand for the next 30 years, a new 46 MLD water purification plant is being constructed in the Dadrimora–Dungra area. The project also includes an intake well on the Damanganga River to draw raw water. Officials said the entire project is expected to be completed by May 2026.

Currently, a 35.50 MLD filtration plant worth Rs 130 crore in the Koliwad area supplies water to Vapi Town, Gokul Vihar, Nutan Nagar, Navinagari, Dadrimora, Sulpad, Chala, and Vapi East and West. Of this, around 5–6 MLD is allocated to the Dungra region.

Authorities said the new infrastructure is being developed in view of the rising population, industrial expansion, and the city’s growing geographical spread. In addition to the filtration plant and intake well, an 18.5 lakh-litre elevated storage tank is being built near Marothia School in Dungra.

Once completed, the project will ensure a direct and adequate supply of clean drinking water to areas including Dungra Azadnagar, Dungra Navi Nagari, Hariya Park, Dungra Phalia, EWS Colony, and Sulpad through an independent source. The upgrade is expected to resolve long-standing issues of low water pressure and irregular supply in these localities. DeshGujarat
