308 Tin Cans of Suspected Fake Ghee Seized on Siddhpur Highway in Gujarat

Patan: Local police seized a large quantity of suspected fake ghee during a vehicle checking drive on the Siddhpur Highway in Patan.
The action was carried out near Gokul University as part of intensified checking ahead of the local body elections. During the drive, a white Ashok Leyland tempo vehicle was stopped and inspected.
Upon checking, police found 308 cans (15 kg each) of unmarked and suspicious ghee in the vehicle. The total value of the seized consignment is estimated at around ₹7.70 lakh. The vehicle, worth approximately ₹5 lakh, was also seized, taking the total value of the seizure to ₹12.70 lakh.
The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Vijay Amritlal Gandaji Thakor (26) and Sachin Diwanji Lalaji Thakor (27), both residents of Naroda in Ahmedabad, were questioned. However, they failed to provide satisfactory answers regarding the consignment, following which the goods were seized.
Police have taken the accused and the seized goods into custody and have launched further investigation into the matter. DeshGujarat
