Mercury crosses 41°C in Ahmedabad, Vadodara; Rajkot hottest in Gujarat at 42.4°C
April 14, 2026
Ahmedabad: Maximum temperatures continued to rise across Gujarat, with several cities recording above-normal heat levels, signalling intensifying summer conditions across the state.
According to the latest weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department this morning, inland regions remained the worst affected, with Rajkot emerging as the hottest location at 42.4°C, which is 3.1°C above normal. Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 41.0°C, 1.6°C above normal, while Vadodara (Baroda) reported 41.4°C, showing a sharp deviation of 2.3°C above normal.
Other cities such as Amreli (41.7°C), Bhuj (40.8°C), Gandhinagar (40.6°C), and Deesa (40.2°C) also recorded temperatures above the 40°C mark, indicating widespread heat across north and central Gujarat.
Meanwhile, coastal areas experienced relatively milder conditions due to maritime influence. Dwarka recorded 31.0°C, Veraval 31.2°C, and Diu 36.0°C, though some locations like Porbandar still reported a notable departure of 4.3°C above normal.
Minimum temperatures also remained above normal in several cities, including Ahmedabad (27.0°C, +3.2°C) and Vadodara (26.6°C, +2.8°C), contributing to warmer nights and reduced relief from the daytime heat.
Humidity levels remained moderate to high in coastal belts, while relatively lower evening humidity was observed in interior regions, further intensifying heat discomfort.
The prevailing trend indicates a steady rise in maximum temperatures across Gujarat, with heatwave-like conditions likely to develop in the coming days if the upward trend continues. DeshGujarat
