Makarba Bridge Work Gains Pace as AMC Completes Girder Launching Over Railway Tracks

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has completed a key phase of the Makarba Bridge project with the launching of 12 steel composite girders over a railway line during a traffic block granted by the Railway Department on May 18.

According to AMC, the Engineering Department completed the girder-launching work on schedule in coordination with the Railway Department. The completion of this stage is expected to accelerate the next phase of construction.

The Makarba Bridge project aims to improve connectivity between Makarba, Vejalpur Corporate Road, and the S.G. Highway areas in western Ahmedabad.

Upon completion, the bridge is expected to provide relief from traffic bottlenecks on S.G. Highway and Vejalpur Corporate Road, benefiting an estimated one lakh residents. At present, motorists often face long waits at the railway crossing, leading to traffic congestion and delays.

Officials said the bridge is expected to significantly reduce waiting times at the crossing, resulting in smoother traffic flow, time savings for commuters, and lower fuel consumption caused by prolonged vehicle idling. DeshGujarat
