AMC moves for long-term solution of congestion issues linked to Makarba LC-24 railway overbridge

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today in a statement said it has initiated a series of measures to address traffic congestion reported around the LC-24 Makarba Railway Overbridge following its opening to traffic.

As an immediate measure, AMC has implemented a ‘capsule design’ traffic layout to properly channelise vehicles and streamline traffic movement at the site.

The civic body is also widening the existing road between Corporate Crossroads and S.G. Highway to its full available width. AMC said the work is expected to improve traffic flow on the route after completion.

In addition, AMC has directed DELF Consulting Engineers (India) Pvt. Ltd., the project’s design consultant, to conduct a detailed technical study of the current traffic situation.

The study will examine the causes of congestion, existing traffic movement and traffic flow patterns. The consultant has also been asked to recommend immediate corrective measures as well as long-term solutions to address the traffic issues.

AMC will undertake a technical evaluation based on the consultant’s findings and recommendations before deciding on further measures to ease congestion and improve traffic movement in the area.
