AMC Chief Reviews Makarba ROB Project, Sets July 31 Completion Target
June 09, 2026
Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner Banchha Nidhi Pani on Monday inspected the ongoing construction of the four-lane railway overbridge (ROB) at Makarba and directed officials to maintain quality standards while expediting work to meet the July 31 completion deadline.
He also instructed officials to ensure proper traffic management around the construction site to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has recently completed the launching of 12 steel composite girders, a key milestone in the project. Once operational, the ROB will improve connectivity between Makarba, Vejalpur Corporate Road and SG Highway, while easing traffic congestion caused by the existing railway crossing.
The Rs 70.7-crore project, against an original estimate of Rs 87.3 crore, involves the construction of a 636.9-metre-long, four-lane overbridge on a 40-metre-wide road linking Torrent Power Makarba in Vejalpur with Corporate Road and SG Highway. The bridge will feature a 15.5-metre-wide carriageway within an overall width of 16.4 metres. DeshGujarat
