AMC Razes Illegal Encroachments in Juhapura for Elevated Corridor Project
July 02, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive at Juhapura Crossroads to remove encroachments for the construction of an elevated corridor on the Vishala–Sarkhej National Highway.
According to the AMC, the South West Zone Estate and Urban Development Department undertook the demolition in Maktampura (Ward 34) after the occupants failed to voluntarily remove portions of their commercial properties that fell within the 7.5-metre Town Planning (TP) road line required for the project.
The civic body said the action targeted portions of Juhapura Bhajiya House and other commercial buildings located at the crossroads. A total of eight commercial units, covering around 3,874 square feet from the ground floor to the second floor, were demolished.
The demolition was carried out using two heavy demolition vehicles, a Hitachi excavator, two breakers, a gas cutter and around 20 labourers deployed by a private contractor.
AMC officials said the clearance was necessary to facilitate the elevated corridor project being executed by the National Highways Authority. DeshGujarat
