Ahmedabad: Heavy rainfall continued to lash several parts of Gujarat on Thursday morning, with South Gujarat still receiving the highest downpour between 6 am and 12 noon. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Surat district’s Umarpada taluka recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 11.14 inches during the six-hour period.

As many as 50 talukas received over 2 inches of rain during these six hours. Umbergaon in Valsad district received 9.88 inches, while Netrang in Bharuch recorded 6.89 inches. Other heavily affected areas included Pardi in Valsad with 6.61 inches, Khergam in Navsari with 6.46 inches, Nanapondha in Valsad with 5.43 inches, and Becharaji in Mehsana with 5.12 inches.

Several other talukas also witnessed intense rainfall. Vaghai and Ukai each received 4.92 inches, followed by Kaprada with 4.84 inches, Vyara with 4.57 inches, Dharampur with 4.53 inches, Vansada with 4.45 inches, and Chikda in Narmada district with 4.41 inches.

In Ahmedabad district, rainfall intensified during the latter part of the morning. Ahmedabad city received 2.60 inches of rain between 6 am and noon, while Viramgam recorded 3.23 inches. Detroj-Rampura received 2.20 inches, Mandal 2.09 inches, Dholka 1.65 inches, Dhandhuka 1.46 inches, Daskroi 0.98 inches, Bavla 0.91 inches, Sanand 0.67 inches, and Dholera 0.16 inches.

Among other major urban centres, Surat city recorded 1.93 inches during the six-hour period. Bharuch received 3.39 inches, Vapi 3.78 inches, Valsad town 3.39 inches, and Navsari 1.22 inches.

The latest SEOC data indicates that the heaviest rainfall remained concentrated across South Gujarat, with parts of Valsad, Surat, Bharuch, Navsari, Tapi, Dang, and Narmada districts continuing to experience widespread heavy to very heavy rain. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as persistent rainfall has already led to flooding and disruption in several parts of the region. DeshGujarat
