Ahmedabad Schools and Colleges to Remain Shut on July 24 Amid Heavy Rain Alert
July 23, 2026
Ahmedabad: In view of the forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in the city, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to close all schools and colleges in the city on Friday, July 24, as a precautionary measure.
In this regard, a circular issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board’s Primary Education Committee said a holiday has been declared for all municipal schools following the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The decision was taken on the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner, with the safety of students being the top priority.
The circular states that all educational activities in municipal schools will remain suspended on Friday. School head teachers have been directed to inform School Management Committee (SMC) members and parents about the holiday and display the notice prominently on the school notice board.
The announcement comes as the IMD has forecast widespread heavy rainfall across Ahmedabad over the next 24 hours, prompting civic authorities to take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students. DeshGujarat
