Ahmedabad Builder Booked for Harassing Women Over Society Redevelopment Dispute

Ahmedabad: Ranip police have registered a case against builder Tejas Patel of Shivalay Infra following allegations by women residents of a society near Subhash Bridge that they were repeatedly harassed and intimidated over a dispute concerning the society’s redevelopment project.

According to the complaint, the society’s redevelopment work had earlier been offered to Patel, but the project did not go ahead after he allegedly failed to agree to the society’s terms. The women alleged that following the decision, Patel began targeting female residents over society-related issues.

The complaint states that Patel allegedly followed the women to local markets, abused them and issued threats. In one incident on May 16, he allegedly drove his car towards a bench where several women were sitting, forcing them to move away before allegedly hurling abuses at them.

The complaint also alleges that Patel created a WhatsApp group around six months ago and added society members to it. Residents claimed that obscene and derogatory videos, along with comments containing indecent language, were repeatedly posted in the group.

The women alleged that the continued harassment, abusive behaviour and threats had caused considerable distress among society residents. After being subjected to the alleged intimidation for an extended period, several women came together and approached Ranip police.

Police have registered the case against Patel and initiated an investigation into the allegations. DeshGuajart
