AMC puts Jantanagar Overbridge proposal on hold
October 01, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has returned a proposal for constructing an overbridge at Jantanagar in the Gota ward, directing officials to examine alternative traffic management measures before taking a final decision on the project.
The issue was discussed during the AMC Standing Committee meeting chaired by Committee Chairman Kamleshbhai Patel earlier today.
The proposed overbridge was part of an initiative aimed at eliminating level crossings. However, the committee has asked officials to examine whether traffic movement at the junction can be improved through other measures.
Officials have been directed to study options such as junction improvements, one-way traffic arrangements, alternative routes and signal optimisation. The necessary details will be compiled, and the proposal will be resubmitted to the committee after reviewing these options.
The decision on whether to proceed with the overbridge will be taken after assessing the feasibility and effectiveness of the alternative traffic management measures. DeshGujarat
