ED Arrests Ahmedabad Trader in Money Laundering Case Linked to Drug Trafficking
October 24, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Enforcement Directorate’s Mizoram unit on Friday took custody of Ahmedabad-based chemical trader Kashyap Thakkar in a money laundering probe linked to a drug trafficking case in the Northeast.
A special PMLA court granted transit remand to Thakkar, whose firm, Krishiv Enterprises, allegedly supplied large quantities of caffeine anhydrous to pharmacies and traders in the region. The chemical is suspected of being used as a diluent in methamphetamine tablets.
The ED initiated the probe in Aizawl following an NDPS case involving the recovery of 4.7 kg of suspected heroin. Investigators claim to have traced suspicious money transactions and bulk chemical supplies to buyers, some of whom are named in the money laundering case.
The agency sought Thakkar’s custodial interrogation to identify the recipients of the consignments and establish the alleged money laundering trail, claiming he had not cooperated with the investigation.
Opposing the plea, Thakkar’s lawyer, Amit Nair, argued that the trader had been discharged from the NDPS case. He also said Thakkar had been summoned to appear on October 28 and questioned the need for his arrest before that date. DeshGujarat
