PM Modi to Inaugurate ₹407.56-Crore Banas Dairy Projects in Gujarat
October 29, 2026
Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day visit to Gujarat on October 30 and 31, 2026. On October 30, he will inaugurate three major projects worth a total of ₹407.56 crore from Bhildi in Banaskantha district.
The projects include the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBBRC) in Bhildi, built at a cost of ₹324.77 crore; a French fries processing plant at Sanadar, costing ₹51.65 crore; and an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) in Palanpur, developed at a cost of ₹31.14 crore. The French fries processing plant and the ASRS will be inaugurated virtually.
The ASRS enables the efficient handling of ultra-high-temperature (UHT) milk products through a high-speed, fully automated and traceable warehousing and logistics system.
The Prime Minister will also virtually lay the foundation stones for two new Banas Dairy Bio-CNG plants in Tharad and Radhanpur.
Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre
Banas Dairy has established the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBBRC) across 127 acres in Bhildi, Banaskantha district. The facility will serve as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for animal breeding.
Under the Central Government’s Rashtriya Gokul Mission, ₹38.83 crore has been sanctioned for the centre, including ₹2 crore for donor animals. The facility receives technical support from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
The project has been approved under the Government of India’s Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) scheme and is financially supported by NABARD. It aims to strengthen India’s animal breeding sector through genetic improvement, innovation and advanced breeding practices.
Automated Storage and Retrieval System in Palanpur
Banas Dairy has established a modern Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) facility in Palanpur, Banaskantha district. The fully automated system is designed to store and dispatch ultra-high-temperature (UHT) dairy products.
The facility features nine levels of steel racks and has a storage capacity of 11,000 pallets. Developed in-house by Banas Dairy, the system has helped reduce operational costs, with the resulting financial benefits expected to support the 4.18 lakh milk producers associated with the dairy. The model can also be adapted to store other dairy products.
French Fries Processing Plant at Sanadar
Banas Dairy has developed a French fries processing plant at Sanadar in Deodar taluka, near Vav-Tharad district, at a cost of ₹51.65 crore.
Work to increase the plant’s production capacity from two tonnes to five tonnes per hour began in April 2026. Banas Dairy has established an integrated production chain covering the development of plantlets in test tubes, cultivation of seed crops in fields, cold storage of potatoes, and processing and delivery of French fries to consumers.
According to the information provided, no other cooperative organisation or agency in India currently operates a comparable fully integrated system.
PM Modi to Lay Foundation Stones for Bio-CNG Plants in Tharad and Radhanpur
Banas Dairy has been processing cattle dung, often treated as agricultural waste, to produce vehicle fuel in the form of Bio-CNG and organic fertiliser. The initiative also provides a regular source of income for livestock farmers.
The dairy currently operates four plants that process cow dung to produce Bio-CNG and organic fertiliser. Two additional plants are now planned, one in Tharad with a processing capacity of 75 metric tonnes of cow dung and the other in Radhanpur with a capacity of 100 metric tonnes.
The Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stones for both plants from Bhildi in Banaskantha district on October 30.
The new facilities are expected to increase the production of clean energy and organic fertiliser while creating additional income opportunities for livestock farmers.
