Anandiben’s wish to resign accepted, Amit Shah not to replace her: BJP

New Delhi: After a meeting of Central Parliamentary Board of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in Delhi today morning, union minister for former president of BJP Shri Venkaiah Naidu while speaking to media persons denied possibility of selection of Amit Shah as new Chief Minister of Gujarat. Naidu said Parliamentary Board has accepted Anandiben Patel’s wish to step down from the post of Chief Minister.

Naidu said:

– BJP Central Parliamentary Board has accepted Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel’s wish to resign.

– Anandiben Patel has been minister and Chief Minister for last 18 years continuously in Gujarat which is unique in party. Parliamentary Board has opined that her performance has been very well and admirable.

– Today Anandiben will go to Governor and hand over her resignation. After that, legislator party meeting will be called in which Shri Nitin Gadkari and party general secretary Saroj Pandey will participate as observer. They will speak to MLAs. Our party president Shri Amit Shah is also MLA. He will be in that meeting and speak to others and decide who should be made new Chief Minister. We have clear majority in Gujarat and whatever is decided it is going to happen in presence of our party president.

– Our national party president Amit Shah himself will remain present in the meeting and consult others. There’s no question about his candidature for the post of Gujarat Chief Minister. Party wants him to remain party president. Under his leadership party has marched ahead. Party has become number one. There’s no question about it. He himself will be there in the meeting of Gujarat MLAs as he is also one of MLAs.
