CM launches Porbandar-Rajkot air service, other cities to be connected

Porbandar:Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated the air service between Porbandar and Rajkort as part of regional connectivity under the National Civil Aviation Policy-2016 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary from the Porbandar airport today.

This service will connect Porbandar with the Rajkot-Mumbai flight. This is the second intra-city regional air connectivity in Gujarat. The first one was started between Surat-Bhavnagar earlier.

A MoU was signed between Mr. Rupani and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati for regional air connectivity ob September 1 last. A provision of Rs.11.25-crore has been made for upgrading the infrastructure. Porbandar will be thus connected with 10-12 other cities in the state soon.

Ventura AirConnect CEO Kartik Gersia said the Porbandar-Rajkot regular service with the 9-seater plane will start on October 10, 2016 and booking from October 5. The one-way fare will be Rs.2,500 (including taxes).

The Chief Minister inspected the passenger facilities in plane. Prominent among those present included Gujarat’s Water Supply Minister Babubhai Bokhiria, promoters of the company, Civil Aviation Department Director Chauhan, Collector Dinesh Patel and others.
