New Delhi: Gujarat Congress President Bharatsinh Solanki today claimed that his party would win this year’s assembly polls in Gujarat with 2/3rd majority, destroying the hollow claims of the ruling BJP. He also claimed that the BJP would also face a defeat in the court of law on the issue of challenging the victory of Congress candidate Ahmed Patel in Rajyasabha election.
Talking to media persons here after the meeting of 43 Congress MLAs with party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, Solanki, took a dig at CM Rupani and said that those talking about the future of the 43 congress MLAs should worry for themselves.
‘This time around Congress would win 2/3rd majority in the Gujarat assembly destroying the hollow claims of the ruling BJP,’ he said.
‘And if CM Rupani does not chage his seat (Rajkot West), no one can save him from a humiliating defeat,’ Solanki claimed.
When asked when Congress is going to start Gujarat campaign, Solanki said the party will start campaign from 4/5 September.
When asked whether the party will make someone Chief Ministerial candidate, Solanki said there’s no such tradition in Congress. When asked about Punjab, he said Punjab was exception and added ‘let’s see, there’s so much time left yet’.
Solanki said that he would accompany the 43 Congress MLA’s who would visit Tirumala temple in Tirupati tomorrow.
