Gujarat govt to spend Rs. 10 crore for tourist facilities in Chansad village

Vadodara: The Government of Gujarat will spend Rs. 10 crore for tourism development related works in Chansad village of Padra taluka of Vadodara district in Central Gujarat. The government will spend this sum through its arm Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd under pilgrim places development programme. The government has added two Swaminarayana faith destinations Vadtal and Chansad in the list of pilgrim places recently. Chansad is birth place of Pramukh Swami, a previous chief priest of Bochasanvasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS).
Among the works that are planned in Chansad, one pertains to redevelopment of village pond in Chansad. The government will develop lake front and other facilities here. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who performed bhoomi poojan for lake front development project here today said, a murti of Pramukh Swami will be installed in the middle of the pond with connecting paths. He said the birth place of Pramkh Swami (Shantilal in worldly life), Swaminarayan and Hanuman temples and Chansad pond will be linked to one another through green landscaping.
According to BAPS saint Brahmvihari Swami, every year four lakh visitors visit Chansad. He said the number will be even bigger next year as BAPS is going to celebrate 99th birth anniversary of Pramukh Swami here. He welcomed government’s plan to develop the roads connecting to Chansad.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rupani said the long pending Girnar Ropeway project will be completed within next three months. Rupani said the figure of visitors to Statue of Unity will reach 35 lakh by October 31st this year, the first anniversary of inauguration of the statue.
