Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has put 7 mobile surveillance and testing vans on roads today morning.

Municipal Commissioner Nehra told media persons that each mobile van will have testing and surveillance staff. There will be a 3-person team of doctor plus two para medical staff for surveillance and a team of doctor and two interns for testing. Thus each van will have 6 persons. In the first phase, all clusters (hotspots) are to be visited. While Surveillance team will check local people using thermal gun and identify those having fever, the testing team will take the samples of those identified by surveillance team and take their samples in vans.

Nehra said: ‘From March 17 when first Covid19 case was detected in the city to now, in 20 days of span, we checked 650 samples. Against this, in just last 24 hours only we have checked another 650 samples. In upcoming days we will increase the number of testing and therefore there is full possibility of increase in the number of cases detected as we want to search out all positive cases. This is pro-active surveillance, a strategy that was used by South Korea to detect the cases at early stage. This initiative will show increase in number of cases in short term, but will help to ease the situation in long term. Out of fresh 13 cases detected in the city, 11 were found out through contact tracing and surveillance.’

AMC has declared following areas as hotspot on the basis of number of cases detected there: Dhruvnagar and Rasulabad belt in Danilimda,  Bapunagar-Rakhial, Hirabag pocket in Ambawadi area, Chamadiavas locality in Jamalpur, Matavadi  ni Pol in Dariyapur, Malekshah ni Masjid in Dariyapur and Crystal Flat in Jamalpur area.

These pockets are blocked to prevent insiders to go out and outsiders to enter inside.
