CID Crime arrests Vipul Chaudhary in Dudhsagar Dairy bonus scam case

Gandhinagar: Former minister of state for Home, Vipul Chaudhary has been picked up in the morning today by CID Crime of Gujarat Police from his residence in Gandhinagar. The case according to CID Crime involves a dairy scam in which as many as 1932 employees of Dudhsagar dairy were issued bonus of high amount by dairy through bank account transfer and the total amount of Rs. 14.80 crore was taken back from them later so that Chaudhary could pay over Rs. 9 crore amount that he had been ordered to pay by tribunal in prescribed time limit. Chaudhary was asked to pay this amount, 40 percent of Rs. 22 crore, as he had allegedly caused loss of Rs. 22 crore to dairy by sending Sagar cattle feed to Maharashtra without consulting GCMMF. Dudhsagar dairy is going to witness polling on January 5. Chaudhary has meanwhile claimed that sending cattle feed to famine-hit Maharashtra can’t be called a scam. Chaudhary also claimed that he had deposited 40 percent amount of Rs. 22.5 crore through banakhat of his land and returned the money by taking debt.

Update: Chaudhary was formally arrested and produced in court in Ahmedabad. The court has sent him to four days remands.
