Recarpeting of SVPI airport runway to complete in mid of April

Sabarmati: The work of runway recarpeting at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport has 90 percent completed. The work will be completed till 14th April.
A 9-km drainage line is installed from the runway to Sabarmati river. The rainwater will flow down from the both sides of the runway and directly reach Sabarmati river via drainage line. The runway recarpeting of the 3.5-km runway was started from 17th January 2022. Around 2 lakh metric tons of dammar is used so far for this work. The works of main pavement of the runway and 5 layers of dense bitumen macadams (DBM) are completed.
Around 3 lakh cubic meter earth work has been done. Total 200 vehicles including JCBs and dumpers are deployed for the work. DeshGujarat
