Stone pelting in Raopura area of Vaoddara, Murti beheaded, 3 injured

Vadodara: Lalji Kui pocket in Raopura area of Vadodara city late last night witnessed heavy stone pelting and incident of communal clash. CCTV visuals show a group of Muslims doing stone pelting targeting Hindu locality aggressively. A marble murti of Sai Baba in local Mandir was beheaded by violent mob.

According to the city Police commissioner, three persons were injured in last night’s violence. He appealed not to spread rumors and dial 100 number to check the facts.

The violence sparked off reportedly after a quarrel over an accident between two vehicles on the road connecting Amdavadi pol and Raopura tower. After stone pelting and group clash near Tower Chawk area, Police intervened and controlled the situation. Two companies of State Reserve Police (SRP) were deployed to maintain peace.

Meanwhile a murti in a local Sai Baba mandir was found in vandalized condition in Kothi pol – Jogidas Vittal pol. It is learnt that police managed to re-install a new murti in that mandir. City police official Chirag Koradiya in media briefing in the afternoon said ‘yesterday in Raopura police station area, an ordinary accident resulted into group clash. One FIR has been registered in Raopura police station, while the other has been filed in Karelibaug police station.’

‘In Karelibaug case, 19 accused are arrested while search for other accused is underway. Complaint has been filed against 25-30 persons in Karelibaug case which involves attack on murti.’

‘A complained filed in Raopura police station has seen three arrests so far.’
