Surat: Vyara police have booked a Christian family of 5 persons living in Vyara in Tapi district over allegations of forcibly converting 2 Hindu females to Christian faith.

According to a complaint filed with Vyara police station, a 20-year old victim Hindu female had an affair with the accused Christian man Yohan Rakeshbhai Vasava. They knew each other from school and the affair had started 3 years ago, as informed by the complainant in the FIR. The accused’s parents knew about the affair, as per the complaint.

As per the complaint, the accused Yohan had called the victim Hindu female at his residence in the morning on 20th April 2022. The accused Yohan, his father Rakeshbhai Vasava, mother Rekhaben Vasava, and his brothers Rasin Vasava and Yakub Vasava were present at the house when she reached there. The accused’s father Rakeshbhai Vasava had allegedly cut the threads of mandir tied in the victim’s hand, when she was at the door of their residence. He allegedly applied oil in her head, forehead and legs and tied her hair with a cloth. The accused Yohan then took her mobile phone and switched it off after being told by his father. Meanwhile, another Hindu female, who is girlfriend of Yakub’s brother Rasin also reached there and Yakub’s father also applied oil on her head, forehead and legs. He told the both Hindu females that they are impure and he had called them there to purify them, as per the complaint.

Yohan’s father refused them to go out of the home and told them that they are supposed to stay there for four days, as per the complaint. The complaint states that he also told them that Jesus has deposited Rs 1 lakh each in his account and his wife’s account. He then lit a candle and made the victims repeat whatever he said. The religious conversion process was performed till 5 am on 21st April. The victim switched on her mobile phone at around 8 am and she told about the incident to her family after returning to her home. They then filed a complaint at Vyara police station.

The police have filed a crime against the accused under IPC section 324, 417, 120 (B) and section-4 of Gujarat Freedom of Religion Act. DeshGujarat
