Water woes in for Vadodara’s south zone could end with PM pressing the remote during his June 18 visit
June 11, 2022
Vadodara: The Sindhrot water supply project meant to bring an end to the water woes of the south zone of Vadodara city has finally been completed, and the Prime Minister is likely to dedicate it to the people during his impending visit to the city on June 18.
The project was started in 2016 and took 6 years to be completed.
The Ajwa reservoir and Mahisagar river are the main sources of water for Vadodara city. But the south zone of the city used to be the last one to receive water from these sources because of which the zone perennially faced drinking water problems.
The Sindhrot water project on the Mahisagar river was begun in 2016 to address this very problem. After overcoming several obstacles, it has finally seen the light of day.
Mayor Keyur Rokadia, Manjalpur MLA Yogesh Patel and Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal visited the site on Friday.
The project has a capacity of 150 MLD water but in the first phase, only 50 MLD will be available. Though the project capacity is 150 MLD, the equipment being used has a capacity of 100 MLD while the intake wells have a capacity of 300 MLD.
Post-inauguration by the Prime Minister, 50 MLD more water will be released into overhead tanks in Manjalpur, Makarpura, GIDC, Tarsali, and Maneja areas of the south zone. DeshGujarat.
