SMC starts preparing 11 reports for World bank loan Approval for Tapi riverfront Project

Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has started the process of preparing 11 types of study reports regarding Tapi riverfront project, after the World Bank team asked for detailed data about various 11 factors before approving the loan.
SMC has undertaken Tapi riverfront development project at a cost of Rs 6000 crore. The 70 percent of the total cost will be arranged from a loan from the World Bank. The study about various factors such as effects of the project on surrounding area, social economy, eco system, and environment is started. The World Bank team has asked SMC to prepare a detailed report about the technical parameters including hydraulics and hydrology.
An international consultant will be appointed for hydraulic and hydrology study and an Indian or local consultant will be appointed for studying other parameters. A meeting between SMC and the World Bank team will again take place on 3rd September.
